Kieran McKay cashed in for three goals in the third period, sparking the Burnaby junior A Lakers to a 12-7 win over the PoCo Saints in B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League action on Monday.

McKay finished the night with five goals, as Burnaby spent most of the evening nursing a lead. But that's not to say PoCo made it easy, as the visitors briefly grabbed a 5-4 advantage on tallies by Carson Rees and Daniel Miller midway through the second period.

But Burnaby replied in force, scoring five straight goals, including a pair by Ty Yanko, to start the third with a 9-5 lead.

The Lakers' Yanko finished with three goals and two assists, while Thomas Vela netted a pair and set up three others. Sam La Roue, meanwhile, scored once and drew two assists, while Liam MacIntosh counted a pair of helpers. Netminder Matteo Tack was full marks in the win, turning aside 45 shots.

In his last game with the Saints, Clark Walter scored three times and set up two others. A day later the third-year junior was swapped to Langley. PoCo goalie Calvin Hafner stopped 35 shots, as the visitors outshot the Lakers 52-47.

The win halted a two-game losing streak for Burnaby, who improved to 3-11 on the season.

The Lakers venture to Ladner on Saturday to play the Delta Islanders, then return home for a Monday game against Langley (8 p.m.) at the Copeland Arena.
