Burnaby’s Declan McLean joined forces with Nova Scotia’s Kai Dwyer to catapult to a bronze medal at last week’s 2018 Trampoline Gymnastics Junior Pan American championships in Cochabamba, Bolivia.

McLean and Dwyer achieved their bronze in the men’s synchronized trampoline final

The Byrne Creek Secondary student was joined on Team Canada by fellow Shasta Trampoline Team members Maja Bonham and Adin Brenner.

Coming off a seventh-place showing at the Pacific Rim championships in Colombia, McLean converted all the momentum of the previous meet – where he was the lone Canadian to advance to the finals – to finish top-three in Bolivia.

Canada ended up with three gold, two silver and a bronze.

The athletes’ next competition is the Canadian championships for trampoline gymnastics, July 4 to 8 in Lethbridge.
