Steelers struggles in November continue

November has not been a month to remember for the Grandview Steelers.

The Grandview Steelers slipped behind the Richmond Sockeyes in the Tom Shaw Conference standings after dropping a pair of games last week. They currently sit third in the conference with a 14-7-2-2 record.

November has not been a month to remember for the Grandview Steelers.

The Pacific Junior B Hockey League team suffered back-to-back losses for the third time this season, falling 8-3 to the White Rock Whalers and 5-1 to Mission City Outlaws in the span of 24 hours.

They briefly led 2-0 against the Whalers last Sunday, thanks to goals by Jack Hamilton and Eric Fuerderer in the first period. But White Rock replied with two of its own, then added two to start the middle frame. While Rhys Lefebvre would cut the deficit to a goal, the visitors scored four unanswered markers over the final 30 minutes to chase starter Cale Dolan.

A day earlier, Mission led 2-0 after 20 minutes. Tomislav Zlomislic buried Grandview's lone tally.

After almost a perfect run through October, where they suffered just one loss, the Steelers have stumbled to a 3-5 record in November, with games tonight (in Aldergrove) and Saturday in Port Moody still to be played.

They'll launch December on Sunday, hoping for better luck, when they host Abbotsford, 7:15 p.m. at the Burnaby Winter Club.
