The Grandview Steelers are entering the final two weeks of the Pacific Junior B Hockey League season looking for a boost.

A two-week layoff resulted in the squad faltering in the past few games, dropping them by a combined score of 12-5.

While losing to the North Van Wolf Pack last Saturday by a 7-4 score could be expected, the club followed that with a 5-1 setback to the Langley Trappers on home ice on Sunday.

Since the calendar changed, the team's been in a 1-3 swirl, tumbling out of second place in the Tom Shaw Conference.

The loss to Langley saw the team outshoot the visitors 27-21, but manage just one goal.

With the Trappers up 2-0 early in the second period, Grandview's Jarod Yau cashed in his sixth of the season on a powerplay to make it a one-goal game.

That was all she wrote for the Steelers, however. Langley replied seven minutes later with their own powerplay tally, their third of the game, then added two more in the third period.

A day earlier, the Steelers did have a quick lead on the 35-1-0-1 Wolf Pack, thanks to tallies from Ethan Strik, off a powerplay 2:20 into the contest, and Carson Zimmerman just 1:48 later. Both goals were assisted by Thomas Von Schoenberg.

North Van counted the next three goals to lead 3-2 after 20 minutes, then went up 4-2 midway through the second frame. While Jack Hamilton made it a one-goal game with his tally at 17:14 of the middle period, the Wolf Pack's Evan Della-Paolera scored 19 seconds later with what proved to be the eventual game winner.

The two teams would trade tallies in the third. Dominic Davis collected a hat trick for the Wolf Pack.

If the team is going to stay in the hunt for second place -- they trail Rickhmond by three points and with just five games remaining -- they could use some quick results this week. The team takes on the same Sockeyes tonight (Thursday) and visits Abbotsford on Friday.

League action will stand back on Sunday when the PJHL All-Stars take on their counterparts from Vancouver Island in Ladner.

Grandview's all-stars include veteran netminder Cale Dolan, Yau on defence, and forward Michael Martino.

The team returns to the ice Jan. 31 when they travel to Maple Ridge to play the Flames.
