Even in a pandemic, people still do crazy things to get cherry blossom shots in Vancouver (PHOTOS, VIDEOS)

Cats in backpacks, girls stripping down to their bras, and even a guy with a sword showed up this year

Cherry blossom season might be waning, but in 2020 enthusiasm for people to have their photos taken at one popular spot in Vancouver has not waned - even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Instagram account @cherryblossommadness was launched in 2016 by Vancouver designer LeLe Chan, who has been chronicling the insanity around (and in) the beautiful cherry blossom trees in front of her home.

Back in 2018 we wrote about the madness, when people went to some crazy lengths for that perfect shot, inclduding stretching out completely in the middle of the street to climbing a tree in a bikini. Last year the people still came out, wearing all sorts of get-ups and striking all kinds of poses for their photographer (and sometimes entourage).

This spring, even though life as we know it has a new "normal" complete with new terms like "social distancing," you may be relieved to know that people have still been showing up to the cherry trees outside Chan's Vancouver home - just fewer of them at a time. There have been plenty of people in masks - and even a mask or two left on the ground. Speaking of ground - photographers seem to forget that the sidewalk is for walking, and private lawns are not.

There have been cats in backpacks, skipping girls going for the "natural" pose, elegant ladies doing fake saunter-and-spins, and - of course - a guy with a sword. Oh, and a guy with a scary skin-tight face mask, too. Yikes!

And, yes...girls who stripped down to their bras on the street got their cherry blossom pics in, too.
