Things are getting competitive between Burnaby’s major shopping malls.
The Amazing Brentwood just announced a major retailer moving into its renovated space with the addition of the Sporting Life. The additional space will bring dozens more retailers to the mall, plus more residential towers.
The Metropolis mall in the Metrotown area recently announced major changes coming in the years ahead as the City of Burnaby looks to establish a main downtown core in and around the mall.
So, where does that leave Lougheed Town Centre – The City of Lougheed.
Well, NOW reader Len Buckley was suitable impressed with the ongoing construction that he sent in a photo of work that is escalating there.
I pass by there, but hadn’t really noticed how fast work was progressing because the view from the fencing is blocked by signage.
Whoa, things are moving fast. Lougheed is aiming to keep up with new residential towers and changes inside the shopping area. For one thing, the mall’s food court has been relocated and added a new roster of outlets for shoppers.
It will eventually become a 37-acre city with a mix of strata and rental units - all linking up with the SkyTrain as part of a growing movement to add housing along transit lines.
