Surrey resident Palwinder Sidhu won $250,000 in the Dec. 19, 2022, draw. He plans to buy a home and start a business with the prize money.

One lucky local plans on making a few dreams come true after a bountiful lottery win.

Surrey resident Palwinder Sidhu was stuck at work during a snowstorm when he discovered that he won a Daily Grand prize of $250,000 from the Dec. 19 draw.

“I didn’t believe it,” he recalled of the moment he discovered his win. “I thought it was $250 or $25,000 and then realized it was a lot more than that!”

Sidhu plans to use the prize in a "positive manner" such as for purchasing a home and starting a business.

“My wife was so excited! She didn’t believe it at first and then I showed her some screenshots of my PlayNow account," he says.

Sidhu purchased his winning ticket on B.C.’s only legal gambling website, PlayNow.

He says it feels “exciting” and “amazing” to be a lottery winner.
