Emergency crews descended on the Parkland Refinery Sunday morning, and people across Metro Vancouver took to social media with questions about a related stench, but it took five hours for Burnaby residents to get a notification through the city's mass notification system.

"Since it's an escalation, that means more than our current one," warned a union rep.

The woman was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Bus service is halted for 48 hours as of 3 a.m. Monday as a deal was not reached between the union and employer.

"We have been flooded with calls."

Bus and SeaBus service is cancelled in Metro Vancouver today and tomorrow.

"TransLink please refund me the two days I can’t use my compass card," said another local.
