An upcoming seniors workshop at Burnaby Public Library aims to offer an inventive approach to staying active for those with limited mobility.

Spring has sprung – and so has an abundance of family fun around the city. My past few columns have explored some of the offerings in the Edmonds, Metrotown and North Burnaby neighbourhoods.

Question: I am in a seniors’ residence with a very large patio. There is talk of doing container gardening here. But no one really knows how to create this.

Take the grandkids out for an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Bonsor 55+ Centre, at 6533 Nelson Ave. Admission is $1.86. The event is for kids up to 10 years old. Info: 604-297-4580.

Name: Ryan Miller Occupation: security guard, rabbit enthusiast Why he’s in the news: You’ve seen a lot of dog parks, but have you ever heard of a rabbit park? Ryan Miller’s mission is to establish a rabbit park in Burnaby, close to Metrotown.

Claudia Richter runs her own clinic – the Burnaby Veterinary Hospital – and every year, she donates her time for Vets in Action, a one-day blitz providing free care for abandoned or homeless pets.

Spring has arrived at last – and so has another season of family fun in the city. Regular readers will know we’ve been keeping an eye on kid- and family-friendly fun in Burnaby.

Don’t miss the opening for Luminescence, a light-themed group art show at the Deer Lake Gallery on Saturday, March 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a lantern-making workshop and live music. Admission is free. The gallery is at 6584 Deer Lake Ave.

A non-profit organization is calling on the City of Burnaby to provide them with free leisure passes for refugees.
