It's the 10th annual Nikkei Matsuri festival in Burnaby, B.C., coming this September.

Early-bird tickets are on sale now for Nikkei Matsuri, an event hosted by the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre.

This family-friendly weekend event will have performances, food trucks, an artisan marketplace and incorporate elements of the museum’s current Washi exhibit.

Food offerings will include Tokyo Katsu-sand, Koyuki and SuzuYa. The Sake Association of BC has participating distributors including Jizake Japan, Axis Planning and PureSake4U.

Vendors like MysGreen (reusable products like waterproof pouches and masks), Shinobu Fabric, Pac West Kimono and Siamurai Apparel will sell their wares in a marketplace.

There will also be a variety of games to play, like a bean bag toss, Wanage (a ring toss) and a “super ball” scoop, where you compete to catch balls in a bowl.

The event is a core fundraising event for the museum.

If you want to get involved as a volunteer, the Centre has a signup application page for various positions including cleanup, crosswalk assistance and game zone volunteers.
