Opera fans, take note. Burnaby Lyric Opera is kicking off its Sunday afternoon concert series for the 2018/19 season with a concert on Sunday, Oct. 7. The concert, Opera Potpourri, will feature three emerging B.C.

Two Burnaby creators are getting a $50,000 boost from the TELUS STORYHIVE program to bring their documentaries to life. STORYHIVE’s first documentary edition, which opened for submissions in May, saw 296 entries from B.C. and Alberta.

Two Burnaby actors are onstage in a new black comedy by Touchstone Theatre. Touchstone is producing the Vancouver premiere of Brad Fraser’s black comedy Kill Me Now , onstage Oct. 13 to 27 at the Firehall Arts Centre.

A Burnaby performer is front and centre in the next outing by Pacific Theatre. The theatre is presenting a guest production of The Wolves , produced by With a Spoon Theatre in association with Rumble Theatre. It’s onstage Oct. 19 to Nov. 10.

Dark comedy screens at Vancouver International Film Festival

Art lovers, mark your calendars for the next opening at Deer Lake Gallery. The Burnaby Arts Council’s gallery will host Parallel, a mixed media exhibition by Susan Jessop, Frankie Watt-Elphinstone and Kenneth Yuen, from Oct. 27 to Dec. 15.
