Here's what you can do in Burnaby this weekend:

Crave the Heights

The 10-day dining showcase featuring some of Burnaby's bests, will be kicking off later this month, giving you the chance to explore the diverse food options in the neighbourhood.

From now until Aug. 27, local foodies can walk along the Heights to enjoy the diverse culinary scene, devour limited-edition menu items, drink features and desserts — all while enjoying live music and entertainment from your favourite local bands.

Summer Cinema

What's a better way to relax than watching an outdoor movie under the stars?

Summer Cinema, a free recurring activity at the Civic Square in Metrotown area is returning for the last two Friday night flicks.

The Lost City will be screened at Civic Square (Bob Prittie Metrotown library) on Friday (Aug. 25) from 8:15 p.m. onward. Got more time to spare? Costumed characters from the movie will also be making an appearance before the event — from 6:15 to 7 p.m. and then from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m.

The event is free for everyone to attend rain or shine.

Edmonds Park will also be hosting a movie night (screening Shazam! Fury of the Gods) on Saturday (Aug. 26) from 8:30 p.m., where costumed characters are also set to make an appearance (same times as above).

Community litter cleanup

Passionate about the environment?

The Lower Mainland Green Team (LMGT) is organizing their third summer community clean up event at the Edmonds community centre this Saturday (Aug. 26), where members can volunteer to help make the city look clean and spotless.

The event is open to people of all ages and experiences.

Edmonds CC's 10th anniversary

The Edmonds Community Centre is celebrating a big birthday this weekend and everyone is invited.

The facility is turning 10 this year and folks can attend the big three-hour birthday bash filled with activities — face painting, food, cake, movie and more — on Saturday (Aug. 26) from 5 to 8 p.m.

As per the city’s website, the free evening will include face painting, arts and crafts, family swim for $3.30 per person, kid's games, interactive booths, outdoor Zumba at 5:30 p.m., cake, BBQ hot dogs and snacks available for purchase and more.

Meditative Tea Ceremony Outdoors

Do you get passionate about your tea?

Around the Tea Vancouver is hosting a meditative tea ceremony this Sunday (Aug. 27), where you can delight in the flavours of Chinese teas in the midst of nature.

The ceremony will happen against the backdrop of the luscious green Burnaby Mountain park from 2 to 6 p.m.

Relish in the serene beauty as the hosts will guide you through a tranquil meditation session and engage in meaningful conversations with fellow nature and tea lovers.
