The Grandview Steelers went 1-1 over the Thanksgiving weekend, but now face another test by facing three non-divisional clubs over the next six days.

The Grandview Steelers are set to get a taste of other Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL) teams outside their division.

The next stint will see the Burnaby junior 'A' hockey club play three games in a span of six days — all against opponents outside the Tom Shaw Conference.

Grandview will head across the Pitt River to Cam Neely Arena to play Ridge Meadows on Friday, Oct. 13.

The Flames are currently the top team in the Harold Brittain division with a record of 9-1-0-1, as of this publication.

The Steelers, however, are already familiar with the Flames as they handed them their first regulation loss of the 2023-24 season.

That was a 5-2 victory on home ice at Burnaby Winter Club back on Sept. 24.

Grandview goaltender Shayan Kermany stopped a career-high 48 pucks on 50 shots in that contest for a second win of the year, including shutting the door on all five Ridge Meadows power-plays.

But now the Steelers will get a chance to see other non-divisional teams, facing off at home on Sunday, Oct. 15, against the re-surging Surrey Knights and on the road next Wednesday, Oct. 18 against the Langley Trappers.

Both teams are 4-3-1-0 through only eight games thus far.

At the same time, Grandview will look to remain in the win column and begin a new victory streak following a 4-3 shootout win over Port Moody.

The Steelers allowed two short-handed goals from the Panthers on Sunday, Oct. 8, including the game-tying marker with eight minutes left in regulation.

Overtime solved nothing and five rounds were needed in the shootout, to which captain Gabriel Adam potted the winning goal and netminder Ronin Geraghty stopped Port Moody's shooter to seal the deal.

Adam scored on a power-play less than a minute into the third period to pull Grandview ahead 3-2. Steven Konechny, Tanner Milne and Lucas Cox (shootout) were the other scorers.

A day earlier, the team fell 4-1 to the North Vancouver Wolf Pack.

The Steelers currently have a record of 5-3-1-0 through nine games this season, good enough for 11 points and a tied-for-fifth position across the 14-team PJHL.

They're 10 points back of Richmond and Delta for first place (21 points) in the Tom Shaw Conference.

Grandview will play in Ridge Meadows tomorrow night, and will return home on Sunday, Oct. 15 to square up with Surrey at 7:15 p.m. in their home barn.
