When you’re at a park in Burnaby, remember there’s a temporary barbecue ban for certain kinds of stoves.

A ban on open-flame barbecues is in effect in Burnaby until the hot weather subsides.

Burnaby parks are on a high state of fire rating to keep all parks and park-goers safe.

This means that charcoal briquette barbecues and cooking stoves are temporarily banned in Burnaby parks for the summer season.

You can still use your propane barbecues and gas cooking stoves, though, as long as you stay with it at all times while it’s in use.

The city has also reminded the public that smoking (including cigarettes, tobacco, cannabis, e-cigarettes and vapes) is always prohibited on parks and trails. Penalties range from $200 to $500 for violating the bylaw.

Any wildfires must be reported to 911.
