Police were called to Burnaby South Secondary Thursday afternoon for reports of a fight with a handgun involving two teen girls.
Burnaby RCMP officers responded to the incident at 12:45 p.m. after it was called in by a resident who lives near the school, according to spokesperson Cpl. Mike Kalanj.
By the time police arrived, the fight had broken up, he said, but the two girls were located and arrested.
One is a Burnaby South student, and the other from Vancouver, according to Kalanj.
The handgun turned out to be an airsoft pistol, he said.
The high school went into lockdown for several hours during the incident.
It was lifted at 2:54 p.m., according to Kalanj.
There were no serious injuries, according to a Burnaby RCMP tweet.
