Take your mothers on a trip (down memory lane) with the Pink Disco Party at Metrotown mall this Saturday, May 13. Let her bring her A-game for all things glitz and glamour. From 2 to 3:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 5 p.m., the full-glam Pink Disco Party on Saturday will feature live music, a fashion show, photo opportunities and a spread of food and beverage treats. Hart House Restaurant brunch

Treat the moms in your life with a brunch at one of the most beautiful restaurants in Burnaby. Voted one of Canada’s 100 most romantic restaurants in February by OpenTable and top brunch spot, the lakeside restaurant is a beautiful choice for Mother's Day brunch. Prepared by Chef Raul Copete Vazquez, the menu — featuring assorted charcuterie and cheese cornichons, Hart House caesar salad, mimosa salad, truffle mac & cheese, mini lemon meringue tarts, cheesecake, chocolate ganache bar and Santiago tart bites — will be priced at $74 per person (two-hour slots per table).

Table reservations can be made through OpenTable.

OEB Breakfast Co.

While OEB in Brentwood does not have a special brunch menu going on for Mother’s Day, they have a special Mom’osa, should anyone want to treat themselves or their mothers. Priced at $10 a Mom’osa, the mother’s day twist on the original mimosa is the perfect concoction of coconut rum, sparkling wine and pineapple juice, garnished with shaved coconut and fresh pineapple.

The made-in-paradise blend of tropical flavours will be a little slice of paradise in your hands, and patrons can try out the drink anytime between May 1 and 31 at any OEB location.

Mon Paris Patisserie

One of Burnaby’s favourite patisseries, carrying an exquisite line of pastries, chocolates and desserts, Mon Paris Patisserie will honour mothers this special day with their delicious limited-time creations:

  • The eye-pleasing Strawberry and Vanilla Cake — a round vanilla biscuit topped with vanilla mousse and fresh strawberry compote, decorated with vibrant yellow flower: the symbol of encouragement, the Black-Eyed Susan.
  • Or you could opt for their elegant La Rose Cake — a lychee and grapefruit créameux complementing a rose and mascarpone mousse on top of a delicate biscuit, symbolizing love that blooms forever.
  • The patisserie is also offering a four-inch-tall handmade edible charming Chocolate Flowering Cactus that represents resilience and grace — crafted from premium Belgian milk chocolate and decorated with white-chocolate flowers.

There are also an assortment of Mother’s Day Pastry Boxes ($26 five-pack, $36 eight-pack, $46 ten-pack) available for pickup. All treats must be ordered in advance  — online at monparis.ca, in person or by phone at 604-564-5665 — for pickup on May 12, 13 and 14.

La Foret

The popular café, which opened its second location at Royal Oak Avenue, is bringing a one-of-a-kind special Mother’s Day special cake — that will win your mothers’ hearts. The special Oreo Red Velvet cake screams of elegance, with the white cream exterior adorned with a light pastel pink flower on top. It will only be available, while supplies last, until midnight on Thursday, May 11. The order can be placed through their website for pickup on May 12 and 13 at their Royal Oak location.

Chez Christophe Chocolaterie Patisserie

Another hard-to-miss chocolatier in Burnaby that just celebrated its 10-year anniversary is collaborating with another local business, Lotus Flower Boutique, to create two limited edition products.

The Mother's Day bundle (priced at $85) will feature everything your mom would love: limited edition Blueberry Lavender Mother's Day Cake, dried flower bouquet from Lotus Flower Boutique and white chocolate bark with dried edible flowers. The cake and floral chocolate bark (milk and white) can be purchased separately as well.

In addition to these, they have created a Pot of Love Mother's Day showpiece ($20), which is made of 42% milk chocolate with 63.6% dark and 25.9% white chocolate decor and filled with dragee (freeze-dried cranberry-coated 70% dark chocolate).

Also included are two heart-shaped bonbons (matcha ganache with raspberry jelly coated in 34% white chocolate and jasmine ganache with honey jelly coated in 34% white chocolate).

Another Mother's Day special is the twisted pink croissant dough filled with strawberry pastry cream, called Croissant Fleur.

Due to limited quantities, people are encouraged to reserve their orders. Only available on May 12 and 13.
