The new Burnaby Hospital redevelopment will be the topic of discussion at an upcoming virtual engagement session.

Local residents are being invited to attend an online presentation and forum for the $2.4-billion project on Nov. 23.

Hosted by Fraser Health, the one-hour session will display the new services for the "modernized medical and surgical health care campus" will offer when completed.

The first phase, which includes a new mental health and substance use unit, is tentatively scheduled to open in 2025.

"It will replace aging infrastructure, accommodate new services, and meet the increasing health care needs of this growing community for generations to come," Fraser Health explained.

A question-and-answer segment will follow a short presentation, which will detail an overview of the hospital upgrades and construction schedule.

Interested participants are encouraged to send their questions in advance by visiting Slido.com and entering the code: #COH-BHRP.

The Burnaby Hospital redevelopment virtual open house is taking place Nov. 23 from 5 to 6 p.m.
