It was so special the first time that the Burnaby Braves did it twice. In the span of just a week, the under-15 baseball team captured a pair of provincial banners to continue a dream season. Burnaby played host and claimed the Baseball B.C.

No one said it would be easy. The Burnaby Lakers remain fixated on winning their next game and getting some sustainable momentum going in their best-of-seven semifinal series with the Victoria Shamrocks.

The Burnaby Lakers find themselves trailing the Victoria Shamrocks 2-0 in their best of seven semifinal after the Island team rallied for a 9-6 victory on Saturday.

Embracing their underdog role, the Victoria Shamrocks ventured into the Copeland Sports Centre Thursday with the intention of delivering a surprise.

The celebration was audible but muted. Moments after whipping the Langley Thunder by a 16-2 margin Tuesday, members of the Burnaby Lakers were noshing on post-game pizza and staying decidedly even-keel despite having established a franchise first.

While the temperature’s rising all around, the Simon Fraser University Clan hockey team is focusing on staying cool – by announcing another recruit for the 2017/18 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.

Simon Fraser University softball sophomore Amanda Janes helped Canada climb the charts and finish fourth at the 2017 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Junior Women’s Softball World Championships in Florida last week.

You won’t find them on any bubblegum cards or bobblehead dolls, but the players who will be donning caps and catching mitts to represent B.C. at the 2017 Canadian Women’s Invitational Baseball Championships this weekend are all one of a kind.
