The Simon Fraser University women's basketball team could not overcome a slow start against the Western Washington Vikings on Saturday, losing 76-55 to close out 2011. Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe led all scorers with 24 points and eight rebounds.

Former Burnaby Lake rugby coach and city businessman Pat Anderson passed away suddenly on Dec. 19 at the age of 66. Anderson was the first head coach of the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club.
