As many Burnaby businesses slowly reopen after months of being closed, more and more are now adding sit-down meal service. The City of Lougheed’s Eateries area has finally opened enough so you can sit down for a meal.

Dear Editor, There is no doubt the COVID-19 pandemic is serious and creates challenges. But it also brings out the best in people. I am age 70 and immune-compromised (MS), so in the high-risk group.

Editor: Re: I wear a face mask mainly out of solidarity , NOW letters Thank you, Janet Routledge, for wearing a mask out of solidarity. Racism is not new in Canada, it has just been swept under the carpet.

“We’ve been sold a bill of goods.” Yes, that’s one of the sparkling comments on the NOW’s Facebook page under my column about “Ken in Burnaby” refusing to follow the City of Burnaby’s rules regarding COVID-19 and the Deer Lake trail.

Editor: Police should not be allowed to investigate police. Public complaints must have “truly” independent civilian oversight that has the power to discipline and dismiss any police officer at any level.

Editor: I was disturbed to see Thursday's retweet of the Burnaby RCMP (school liaison officers’) video greeting. ( The original video has been pulled. Read more about it here. ) This is a messed-up world.

A Burnaby homeowner emailed me upset about his property taxes. That’s not unusual. People always seem angry about their property taxes. I’m including what he sent me because tax calculations are complicated.
