Letter: North Burnaby doesn't need noise and potential disaster

Capitol Hill doesn't need more planes flying overhead, this resident says. Here's why.

NAV Canada is proposing rerouting flight paths into YVR, but this North Burnaby resident says they shouldn't fly over Capitol Hill.

An open letter to Burnaby North-Seymour MP Terry Beech:

This is the first time I have had to contact you, as I for one am most satisfied with the job you do for North Burnaby residents.

I am, however, very unhappy about the NAV Canada plan to route flight paths over North Burnaby and the Capitol Hill area.

We have enough noise now from the Parkland Refinery site, the Trans Mountain docking facilities and expansion, the planes and helicopters that do fly over (some very low).

The area is not suited — should there be a disaster, God forbid. There are refineries, tank farms in four locations, SFU, numerous schools, a hospital.

This is nonsense to subject all of this to even more noise and potential for disaster than we now have.

It will also contribute to lower property values and distress for residents. Speaking for a number of residents of Bessborough Drive on Capitol Hill, we trust you will do what is necessary to stop this plan.
