In response to the cyclist's comments on roundabouts, there is nothing "common" about sense and the problem is much more than roundabouts. 

I find drivers paying less attention to what they are doing and more attention to their phones, which they have stuck on the dash glaring back at them.

The result is they have to fiddle with the phone. It seems they have a total disregard for traffic laws and staying somewhat close to speed limits, just as long as they get to wherever they are going.

They are totally oblivious to what is happening around them until it is almost too late – then they wise up, clumsily recover, then proceed, checking their phone to ensure they haven't missed anything.
