Re: It's been traffic chaos on this Burnaby road. Did anyone warn us?
Re: Letter: This Burnaby intersection's signals need changing to save lives
What you described just happened to me word-for-word yesterday. If that letter was posted just two hours later, I would have thought you were my fellow driver in the lane beside me.
I was coming down Gaglardi Way and entered the intersection once the light turned green. The white pickup truck ran their red light and nearly hit the both of us while attempting to turn left - as you described.
I was terrified.
What is most infuriating is that the police are overemphasizing speed enforcement over patrolling dangerous intersections.
As I continued on the way down Gaglardi Way, I saw the usual speed trap at the service road and pullout, replete with pulled-over cars. It's disingenuous to place such a trap on a wide and descending mountain road without any intersections. If the police could redirect their attentions to the nearby intersection where far more dangerous infractions are occurring, safety would be much improved.
