Without a doubt, we are living in an extraordinary time, and I am encouraged to see how we as a collective community are coming together to support each other through the unprecedented challenges presented by COVID-19.

Each month the Burnaby RCMP’s crime prevent unit sends out wrap up of the previous month’s crime stats – including locations. And each months shows the stretch of Kingsway at Metrotown is the absolute worst area for crime in the City of Burnaby.

Dear Burnaby NOW readers: Burnaby is a far different than it was just a few short weeks ago. Things have been moving at a frantic pace and we’ve all had to make radical adjustments to our lives, livelihoods and priorities.

Editor: I read the article accusing Burnaby residents of stupidity and urging the parks to be closed. It appears to be a judgmental piece written by an author doing their best to ignore the benefits of outdoor exercise, both mental and physical.

Editor: I would like to say I agree with your stories about the disrespect people have for others regarding this COVID-19 outbreak. I’ve been watching them at the Cariboo track and field beside Cariboo Secondary.

Editor: We are now into our second month of social distancing/self-isolation and there doesn’t appear to be an end to this soon.
