Many residents of Burnaby have been plagued in recent years by the chafer beetle - leading to many ruined lawns and angry fists waved at the sky. Burnaby resident Joe Kelly was one of those people.

So, you’re a Metro Vancouverite and you say you’re not jumping on the Toronto Raptors bandwagon. You swear you’re a diehard fan not just cheering now to make up for the Vancouver Canucks stinking up the joint.

Let’s throw out a simile here to see just how much of an overlap there is in the Venn diagram of Canadian basketball fans and lovers of the Lord of the Rings. Because to me, Kawhi Leonard of the Toronto Raptors is a lot like an Ent.

If you say you love bears, then you should stop doing things to get them killed. Because bears are, in fact, getting killed. A lot of them. And not in some far-off, distant part of B.C., but really close to home.

The Editor, I’m sharing a copy of a letter I sent to the city of Port Moody early this morning after being woken up by an RCMP vehicle in front of our house:

Editor: The residents of Forest Grove went up against the gondola plan years ago with a previous TransLink board. Many of us argued our neighbourhood's case and the plan was taken off the table due to opposition and a lack of funds.

Dear editor : Re: Blurred Lines, May 24 editorial viewpoint on Bike to Work Week. Biking to work is great. I do it once a week from upper Lynn Valley to Burnaby. Some do it daily year-round, which is amazing. It could be much better though.

Editor: I would like to personally thank the Burnaby RCMP officer who assisted my distraught cousin at Metrotown on May 10.

Editor: My name is Cheska Retita. I’m a Grade 9 student from Moscrop Secondary and I would like to talk about the number of buses that come by our school daily. In my opinion, as a student from Moscrop, the buses from and to Moscrop are insufficient.
