Dear Editor: Many Burnaby NOW readers will agree with your North Shore opinion piece, "Protests, demonstrations, part of democracy." I do not.

Dear Editor: This Saturday, June 14, will be a day of protest and learning for everyone opposed to B.C. Hydro's smart meter program. Rallies will be held in Victoria, Kelowna and right here in Burnaby at Hydro's smart meter headquarters.

As much as Paul Bjarnason probably defutes (Where is democracy?, Burnaby NOW, Letters to the editor, June 6) the existence of democracy, it does exist.

Dear Editor: Re: Pipeline questions: From terrorism to expropriation, Burnaby NOW, May 14. The article caught my attention as it related to a controversial topic.

History has a timely and poetic way of making itself relevant.

Dear Editor: Re: Protesters chain themselves to Chevron fences, Burnaby NOW, June 4.

As the latest contract dispute involving B.C.'s teachers careens towards the inevitably unsatisfactory conclusion for all involved, it's worth asking whether another bargaining model should be adopted.

For those of us who are slightly addicted to choral music, there's always a little bit of sadness attached to the arrival of summer - because it usually means we don't have any more rehearsals and concerts to look forward to until fall.
