The recent passing of former B.C. premier Bill Bennett was a reminder that of the many people who have held elected office in this province, only a handful can truly be said to have left a major, lasting imprint on the society they served.

Dear Editor By my count, Burnaby has lost four court battles over the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion project.

Dear Editor Would that Burnaby had a mayor as practical as he is principled in two matters, those of legal actions against Kinder Morgan and a homeless shelter for our city. On one issue, too much money is being spent, on the second, none.

If you talk to the supporters of the Christmas Bureau, you’ll hear a common theme developing. Some call it privilege, some call it luck, but the idea is some of us are fortunate enough that we’re in a position to help others.
