2022 Civic Election

Burnaby Green Party trustee Christine Cunningham, who ended a decade of one-party rule on the Burnaby school board four years ago, has decided not to run for a second term.

“I believe in building a beautiful Burnaby with vibrant and inclusive neighbourhoods.”

“Like many municipalities, Burnaby is in need of a variety of housing forms including non-profit projects and social housing initiatives to meet the needs of the community.”

“Everyone, regardless of social, economic status, or ethnicity, should have appropriate, adequate, affordable and safe housing.”

“I am running because the work of making Burnaby a more affordable, livable, dynamic, inclusive, and resilient city is not complete.”

“We need to ensure our city is a 15-minute city, where you can visit the dentist, buy your groceries, and get to school all within a close distance.”

“We must however find a balance between our housing needs and environment so Burnaby doesn’t become a city of just highrises.”

Burnaby's mayor is running unopposed in the upcoming civic election.

Oct. 15 is election day across B.C. and Burnaby will turn out to vote for council and school board representatives.
