The Editor, Re. Re. " Traps set, parts of Mundy closed due to bear family " (The Tri-City News, July 11). Enjoying a wonderful walk in Mundy Park with my dogs, passing signs warning of bear sightings, I saw, cordoned off, a bear trap.

There is much that is startling about the patient care quality review of Squamish’s Steffanie Lawrence’s time at Lions Gate Hospital. Most shocking to me as a mom, is how powerless her parents were. Lawrence, 15, died of a fentanyl overdose on Jan.

Nobody really wants to be at a hospital. Hospital visits usually mean somebody you care about is hurting, although in some cases, at least a beautiful baby is the end result. Mostly, however, those visits involve great amounts of anxiety.

Only a few weeks have passed since Burnaby resident Charles Masala, a father of two, was killed by a driver while he was out riding his bike.

Editor: Re: Sorry, Trans Mountain protesters, grandparents aren’t above the law , NOW blogs, July 12 I think the comment about grandparents being “above the law” is erroneous, but it seems to be the only thing that grabs media attention.

An emailed “safety alert” was sent out through the SFU Community Trust on Monday afternoon, warning people about a “disturbing incident” involving a man trying to grab a woman on the Burnaby Mountain trails near the campus.

One of best parts of living on the West Coast is eating. Yeah, I know people think it’s the weather – because it doesn’t snow much and doesn’t hit -50C - but for me it’s just the eating. As in fresh West Coast-grown food.
