Last week we published a story detailing a Burnaby Parents' Voice candidate's concern about hateful and racist remarks being published online via a gay media's website.

Dear Editor: The province's job creation plan focuses on areas where B.C. already has a "competitive edge." What greater competitive edge can there be in the 21st century than having an abundance of renewable clean energy.

Dear Editor: The number still blows me away: 24 per cent. That is the percentage of Burnaby residents who voted in the 2008 civic election. It's low, extremely low. Ever since I threw in my hat to run for council, the number has been on my mind.

Dear Editor: The City of Burnaby has declared October to be Islamic History Month. I'm against this for a few reasons.

Dear Editor: After reading a recent letter about overcrowded hospitals, I had to write about the experience at the Burnaby Hospital a couple of weeks ago. The situation in the hospitals is shocking.

Dear Editor: Re: Muslim nation? No, thank you, Letters to the editor, Burnaby NOW, Oct. 21. I find Ziggy Eckhardt's writing to be consistently shrill and, frankly, tiresome.

We can almost hear the groans: yes, we've written the word "Christmas" in the paper, and it's still only October. Most folks prefer not to think about the holiday season until, oh, late November.

Dear Editor: Re: Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement CETA It is now less than one month until the municipal elections in B.C. None of our local politicians have made the CETA an election issue.
