An international collaboration between Argentinian and Canadian artists is coming to the stage at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. Metamorphosis Butoh (Puedes Volar Mariposa) is onstage Feb. 21 to 24.

This is definitely not the Thunder From Down Under. Local audiences are invited to check out the hilarity that is The Comic Strippers, a “sexylarious” improv comedy show that’s coming to the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts on Saturday, Feb. 10.

If you’ve been promising yourself that one of these days you’ll get around to figuring out what your camera can do, the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts can help. The arts centre is hosting a few photography workshops coming up later this winter.

ON NOW To Saturday, Jan. 28 Arts Council of New Westminster presents works from the permanent collection, at The Gallery at Queen’s Park, with work in a variety of styles and mediums. Gallery open Wednesdays 1 to 8 p.m.

Jazz fans, don’t forget about the next Jazz Jam at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts. Hosted by Cory Weeds of Coastal Jazz, the nights feature a lineup of some of Vancouver’s best jazz musicians coming together in an evening of improvised music.

Deer Lake Gallery is set to come alive with music. The gallery is continuing its Live at the Gallery concert series this winter, with the next performance coming up on Friday, Jan. 19.

The Burnaby Art Gallery is inviting people of all ages to get their hands on art this winter. The gallery is offering an array of new art programs for children, families and adults, from printmaking to watercolour workshops.

Celebrate the best in photography at an upcoming showcase by the Burnaby Photographic Society. The society is celebrating its 22 nd annual showcase at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts on Saturday, Jan. 27.

ON NOW To Saturday, Jan. 13 Hastings Park 1942, an exhibition at the Nikkei National Museum, 6688 Southoaks Cres. In 1942, over 8,000 Japanese Canadians were detained in barns at Hastings Park before being sent to internment sites in the B.C.

A Russian-language comedy night is coming to the Michael J. Fox Theatre.
