Two new exhibitions open next week at Burnaby Art Gallery

Deer Lake concerts announced for spring and summer season

ON NOW To Saturday, April 19 Frames of Reference, an exhibition of the work of Doug Ibbott and Anouk Jonker, at the Burnaby Arts Council's Deer Lake Gallery, 6584 Deer Lake Ave. Opening reception March 29, 2 to 4 p.m.

It was a somewhat accidental beginning for the Gamma Garage Art Group of North Burnaby. Sheila Chowdhury's daughter, Maia, left her UBC architecture school clutter behind when she moved to New York about 14 years ago.

Spring may finally have sprung in Burnaby - and the new season has brought plenty of opportunities to get out of the house and enjoy activities of all kinds.

Regular readers may remember Kevin Godsoe, the Burnaby artist who was featured in these pages Feb. 14 when he had a show at the Havana Gallery on Commercial Drive.

Art lovers turned out at the Deer Lake Gallery March 29 for the opening of a new exhibition. Frames of Reference, an exhibition of work by Anouk Jonker and Douglas Ibbott, opened on Saturday and runs to April 19.

Elizabeth Wallace is an artist, member of the Burnaby Artists' Guild and the featured artist in the guild's spring show at the Shadbolt Centre this weekend.
