Deer Lake Gallery is inviting everyone to get a close-up look at Coast Salish weaving.

The City of Burnaby has a trifecta of festive events happening for Canada Day. The city’s July 1 offerings all share a free, family-friendly festival atmosphere, with a choice of three different locations.

Summer fun is returning to Civic Square. The City of Burnaby is once again hosting concerts, outdoor movies and children’s fun at the square, located beside the Metrotown library branch (at Kingsborough Street and McKay Avenue).

Nevertheless, they persisted. The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is celebrating women with its final Live at the ’Bolt performance of the season. Live at the ’Bolt: Persistence is onstage Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22 at 8 p.m.

The Shadbolt Centre for the Arts is offering up some live outdoor music this summer. Music lovers can take in some outdoor performances in July at Spirit Square, outside the arts centre at Deer Lake.

ON NOW Month of June Cabins/Raven Sun, new art exhibition featuring paintings by local artist Darleyne Jeff and Kathy Wood, at Burnaby Neighbourhood House north location, 4908 Hastings St., open Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Deer Lake Gallery is celebrating the work of a Coast Salish artist in its next exhibition. Redefining, featuring work by Kelly Cannell of the Musqueam Nation, is on at the gallery from Friday, July 5 to Saturday, Aug. 10.

Burnaby Neighbourhood House is getting set for another art exhibition. Paintings by artist Akemi Ito will be on display at the Neighbourhood House’s north location, at 4908 Hastings St., for the month of July.
