The City of Burnaby says the development is "much-needed affordable housing," but homeowners opposed the Metro Vancouver Housing proposal, expressing concerns the height would be "like a skyscraper."

Burnaby is reviewing its liquor and cannabis policies, which include considering private cannabis businesses (currently not allowed in the city) and potential public desire for more places to consume liquor such as parks, spas and barbershops.

Whether its a 49-storey tower development, or a six-storey rental building, there's new developments planned - and you can comment on them at a public hearing this Tuesday.

The city said revealing the property details would give neighbouring owners a “virtual roadmap” showing where a land assembly is planned, leading property owners to seek prices much higher than market value.

Get ready for the Burnaby Housing Authority, which plans to acquire land and build housing – particularly in neighbourhoods which currently lack non-market housing.

The funding covers 10 projects at varying stages of development. Some of the rentals will be specifically for Indigenous people and seniors facing homelessness.
