Hilton Workers strike action
Over a dozen Hilton Metrotown workers walked off the job earlier this month after nearly 100 long-term hotel employees were laid off. Those workers have now been locked out by the employer.

Pula (who didn’t want their real name used) has a message for those workers who were recently locked out by Hilton over a labour dispute that stems from 97 workers losing their jobs and are now protesting at the hotel site.

Protest, but keep it down.

“Have you heard the noise they’re making since then? Not just one day but on-going till now. They have at least three drums, pots/pans and other noisemakers. With focus on the drums, noise is non-stop every day for 10 hours, 7 days a week. No Sunday rest and emphasis on the word ‘non-stop.’ To the protesters, we hear you! You have a just cause. It is your livelihood at stake. You are entitled to speak up. That’s your freedom. I honestly prayed that your issues will be resolved. Now hear us! We, the Metrotown residents, are sick and tired of the noise! There are roughly over 25 condo/apartment buildings within a short 5-mile radius of the Hilton vicinity. Imagine the vast number of residents you are disturbing, especially the stay-home people such as retirees, housewives, teleworkers, ill people, etc… Aren’t we entitled to peace and quiet in our neighbourhood?”
