The Surrey Eagles Hockey Club named Burnaby resident Brandon Morley its team captain for the 2012/13 B.C. Hockey League season. Morley is entering his third junior A season.

Simon Fraser University sent Pacific University a message in its varsity football season opener. The Clan opened the 2012 season with a rollicking 51-14 victory over the NCAA Division III school in Forest Grove, Oregon on Aug. 30.
