Sitting at a small corner table in a pub in Baden-Baden, Germany last month, I was enjoying a quiet conversation with my aunt, uncle and 11-year-old daughter when my eyes fell on the diners sitting at the table directly across from us.

Editor: I would just like people to know what great firemen and fire department we have in Burnaby. They were unexpected but very welcome guests to our home Christmas Eve to a chimney and rafter fire.

The old adage “the more things change the more things stay the same” could easily apply to B.C. politics, as many of the issues that dominated the past year will surely do so again in the coming year.

The presents have all been opened. You are (hopefully) over your turkey coma. Now what? It’s time to start thinking ahead to 2019 and making some resolutions.
