Editor: Over the past 65 years, the world’s appetite for plastics has increased dramatically. In 2015, it is estimated 322 million tonnes of plastic was produced globally according to the World Economic Forum .

Calling 911 is something nobody wants to have to do. Unless the fast food restaurant you’re jonesing for isn’t open 24 hours a day as advertised. Then you definitely have no issue calling 911. Right? Um, no. You don’t call for that.

Burnaby has several main roads that serve as east-west connectors for traffic. None had as bad a year as Canada Way. Not Kingsway (a nightmare road to travel if there ever was one), nor Highway 1, Hastings, Lougheed or Marine.

We get a lot of letters to the editor sent to us here at the Burnaby NOW . They come mostly by email, although a few arrive by mail or are dropped off here at the office. Most are thoughtful missives on the news of the day.
