Dear Editor Burnaby’s mayor seems to be a big topic in the media both by a past Premier, and from tenants protesting the loss of low-cost rental units in the Metrotown area.

Sometimes the checks and balances in the democratic process work. This past week the recall campaign to oust Burnaby North Liberal MLA Richard T. Lee fizzled out.

Dear Editor: I am writing on behalf of the Burnaby Task Force On Homelessness. The leading cause of homelessness is poverty. This is documented by national research and is regularly articulated by Burnaby residents living in poverty.

It is an embarrassing state of affairs when many small businesses report that North-South trade with the U.S. is easier than East-West trade within Canada. But this is nothing new.

Dear Editor: I was dismayed and disappointed to read your reporter’s negative story about the Sorbos, who now are together at Normanna Rest Home. She spoke with Arne, who is in his 89th year, and Iris, who at 80 years has dementia.

I’m a big believer in the power of social media as a force for good. Time and again, in both my own personal life and in the wider world around me, I’ve seen the ways in which it can help serve to create community and unite people in new ways.
