The Editor, I fully support B.C. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry when she says the risk of not sending the kids to school is far greater than that posed by a potential spread of the virus that causes COVID-19.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began back in March, we have learned to manage the risk the virus has brought into our lives.

Editor: I’m pretty sure you’re aware of the recent construction and reconfiguration of Lougheed highway. I frequently use the route, where I turn right onto Underhill from Lougheed to reach my home.

Editor: I am very concerned as a parent in Burnaby to send my child to school. As much as I am eager to see my child prosper and enjoy his childhood, I also need to keep my child safe. The reality does not match the demands of the COVID-19 situation.

Way back in April, Trans Mountain’s tank farm in Burnaby was the scene of a protest, with the company accused of not following social distancing measures amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Editor: Newscasts emphasize daily the pain retailers and restaurants are feeling due to the COVID 19 pandemic and resulting closures. Retailers do not stand alone. The Burnaby Hospice Society and other non-profits are also being negatively affected.

Editor: Re: Burnaby family challenges $400 fine for backyard chickens, NOW News I wanted to comment on the no chickens being allowed in a Burnaby backyard. Chickens serve a useful function.

When COVID-19 first hit, all we heard about was senior citizens dying in large numbers. Now part of the focus has switched to young people and their role in helping stop the spread of the pandemic.

Editor: On June 8 of this year, I complained to TransLink about excessive SkyTrain noise. I measured the noise level at the intersection of Rumble and Gilley at 89 decibels.
