Burnaby's Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre is hosting a talk on Japanese migrant workers in the Meiji period, which ran from 1868 to 1912 and marked Japan's shift from feudalism to modernity.

The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is on from Sept. 15 to 23, and there are lots of local opportunities for Burnaby residents to spend a day collecting trash from our beaches, riverfronts and creeks.

When parched runners get to the third water station at the Rhythm of Life fun run this weekend, they can be sure to get lots of encouragement from volunteers Bill and Kath Conolly.
