Burnaby Art Gallery opens three new off-site exhibitions

The Burnaby art gallery is offering a number of public programs in connection with its Dutch masters exhibits, all designed to help make the work as accessible as possible to the community.

Wednesday, September 11 Short story open mike, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Heritage Grill, 447 Columbia St., New Westminster, hosted by Royal City Literary Arts Society, giving emerging and established writers a place to share their short fiction.

A Burnaby dancer will be front and centre at the Scotiabank Dance Centre on Saturday night (Sept. 14). The centre is holding its 12th annual open house, with free events running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and an evening performance at 8 p.m.

There's something about the Burnaby Art Gallery and its location, nestled in the Deer Lake Park enclave, that lends itself as the ideal backdrop for the Dutch masters exhibitions currently underway inside.

Word lovers, this one's for you. The Burnaby Writers' Society's Spoken Ink reading series is back, and it's happening next on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The series includes a reading from a featured author, as well as an open mike session.
