I stepped foot into Burnaby’s biggest mall – Metropolis at Metrotown – on Friday afternoon and had mixed feelings about what I saw. Many of the stores have reopened slowly, but some are still closed. No Victoria’s Secret shopping for me that day.

For a yes-or-no question, it took a surprisingly long time to answer.

People are rightly outraged about that video (posted below) showing a woman stalking and tripping an 84-year-old Asian woman in Burnaby. Aside from this terrible crime, I have two other issues that are seriously bothering me.

Editor: In this time of uncertainty, some things (unfortunately) remain certain. On April 14, 2016, a public health emergency was declared in BC, due to the number of overdose deaths that had been recorded in the months leading up to that time.

Editor: Accidents can happen in a split second. When I was two years old, I ran into the path of a riding lawn mower and lost my right leg below the knee.

Editor: Our communities are facing two crises right now. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of us, and our local governments will soon face serious funding shortfalls as a result.

Spring brings us one of B.C.’s most celebrated ingredients - spot prawns. Spring is also a time of rejuvenation for local business hammered by the COVID-19 pandemic. A new phase of the B.C.

Editor: Thank you Cathy Griffin for your letter to the editor: Did I miss the memo the pandemic allows bad Burnaby driving? During this pandemic, while waiting to get back to work, I too witnessed poor habits but these are from cyclists.

When it comes to crime in Burnaby right now, it’s safe to call our local streets a target-rich environment for thieves. COVID-19 has a lot of Burnaby residents staying home and not driving. I know I rarely go out.
