Dear Editor: Anyone who thinks Trump’s blowhard antics are a detriment to democracy should cast their eyes to Victoria’s provincial legislature. Specifically, the behaviour of the opposition Liberals during Question Period.

Dear Editor: Sad as it can be to watch any tree being cut down, sometimes it has to happen. This is true of any urban area – even Burnaby, with its wealth of healthy, large older trees providing shade and quiet passageways for area residents.

Dear Editor: Remembrance Day, Nov. 11. On this day, I wear a red poppy to express my sorrow for all the soldiers of the world who died and are dying from fighting because they thought they were doing the right thing.

Facts matter. Words matter. So we applaud B.C.’s new Speaker of the House, Darryl Plecas’s attempt to bring a bit more civility into the legislature.

It’s pitting province against province. And Burnaby is at the center of the dispute. And, yes, it’s all about the pipeline.

Dear Editor: In recent years, I have noticed that the red Remembrance Day poppy is worn mostly by people in their 60s, 70s and older.
