Anyone who has played poker - even a friendly game - knows you don't show your opening hand and then bluff with draw cards.

Dear Editor: There has been considerable discussion and propaganda in the news media about the Enbridge pipeline through B.C. from Alberta tar sands and the necessity of exporting this bitumen supposedly to Asian markets.

Dear Editor: I went to a doubleheader this past weekend. No, I wasn't soaking up the sun at Nat Bailey.

Earlier this year, we announced our intentions to pursue expanding the Trans Mountain Pipeline System, which has been responsibly transporting oil between Edmonton and Burnaby since 1953.

Dear Editor: Well, if city councillors and the local newspaper feel it is okay to do so, then so do I. I would like to tell these animal rights activists to "piss off." It is not anyone's right to tell people what they may eat, when it is legal.

Dear Editor: Re: Residents organize townhall meeting on pipeline, Burnaby NOW, Sept. 19. Kinder Morgan's engineering director Michael Davies is quoted: "We haven't seen any unusual corrosion or have had any other problems with diluted bitumen.

Dear Editor: At a time when we ought to be working toward reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, we are seeing the largest expansion of oil and gas exploitation in history.

For a few minutes this weekend, most of us will set aside some time to ponder the things we're grateful for. Good health, we'll say.

Calls for electoral reform in B.C. are increasing in volume once again - not surprising, as it begins more and more to look like a lopsided result will come out of the next provincial election.
