Dear Editor: Re: Newsmakers that grabbed our attention, Burnaby NOW, Dec. 28. We promise not to send any more letters to Burnaby NOW, starting the day after (ex) KGB Captain Lennikov is deported.

Over the last four months, I have been working as an intern at the Burnaby NOW and a pro bono law office for an elective class called work experience that I took as a part of my senior year in high school.

We're far enough into the new year now to say: the holidays are officially over. Heaven knows, with so much rainy winter ahead of us, we could use a little bit more of the twinkle and celebration that comes with Christmas and New Year's.

Dear Editor: Re: 'No lungs' protest targets smokers, Burnaby NOW, Jan. 4. I agree with everything Leo Levasseur said in the article. I would like to go even further.

Cartoonist - the job title even sounds like fun. Cartoons, after all, bring back memories of Daffy Duck and Wile E. Coyote. But for editorial cartoonists such as Ingrid Rice, cartoons carry political messages wrapped in deceptively simple drawings.

Most of the world now marks the beginning of each new year as the first day of January. Although, like all of the other dates still held as new starts by a number of cultures, it's really quite arbitrary from a cosmological point of view.

Dear Editor: Re: Reporter reveals one of her favorite sources, Here and Now, Burnaby NOW, Dec. 21. If I had a wish this Christmas, it would be that we had the same reporter desire to find local sources for information here in the northwest.

Dear Editor: I didn't know whether to cry or laugh when I read that another climate change summit has been convened in Doha.

Dear Editor: You have to really wonder about the Christy Clark-led B.C. Liberals. After spending $15 million of taxpayers money extolling the virtues of the so called B.C. Jobs Plan, we now find out that jobs in B.C.
