Don’t blame residents for water shortage

Don’t blame residents for water shortage

Dear Editor, I am growing tired of hearing about the water shortage in Metro Vancouver. As far as I can remember, every year there is a restriction placed on our water usage.
OUR VIEW: C’mon Burnaby, make the first move

OUR VIEW: C’mon Burnaby, make the first move

It’s starting to sound like a broken record – Burnaby needs an affordable housing strategy. We hear it often from readers, concerned citizens and most recently, ACORN, a local anti-poverty group (see our page 1 story).
The Liberals are out of scope

The Liberals are out of scope

Health minister Terry Lake may not have clued into it yet, but that idea to ask the Office of the B.C. Ombudsperson to investigate the 2012 health ministry firings isn’t flying so well.

Province needs to protect environment

Bring on water meters

B.C. surplus means little

Even though his budget last year went from projecting a miserly looking tiny surplus to becoming almost embarrassingly awash in riches, don’t expect Finance Minister Mike de Jong to start doling out new spending any time soon.
No pride in fighting transit funding

No pride in fighting transit funding

Dear Editor Jordan Bateman is now basking in the defeat of the referendum; His last letter in the NOW suggests that the entire TransLink organization should be gutted along with the transit police.

Marriage is not a human rights issue

Dear Editor We refer to Janaya Fuller-Evans’ column No more silence on human rights , printed in the Friday, July 10 edition of Burnaby NOW . The title caught our eye, because we too feel deeply about that subject.
